Our visit to Community Pride Day Care Center in Clearwater just before Christmas 2003 was a huge success and held a big surprise! Palm Harbor Montessori Academy and Country Day Montessori parents' donations of six van loads of toys and cash donations made it possible for this center to qualify for the next level of accreditation, which will enable them to get additional grant money.

We started off 2004 with a mid January session with the Girl Scouts in Oldsmar. Garden Fairies Kiaralinda and Siobhan helped this troupe of talented girls make wearable art. Inspired by our hand painted Garden Fairy tee shirts, they asked us to teach a create your own tee shirt class.
This March ('04) we participated in a segment of Girl TV that will be shown on Public Access TV in Hillsborough. The girls had a wonderful time making costumes out of recycled materials. Garden Fairies Kyle Pierson and Siobhan also brought the Garden Fairies Dunedin Mardi Gras parade outfits for the girls to model in a fabulous fairy fashion show finale. Each girl beamed with self confidence, modeling outfits make out of cardboard and duct tape. This was way more fun than a trip to the mall!

If the word "fairies" conjures up images of delicate
sprites flitting about
upon gossamer wings, then you haven't met the Garden Fairies. Garden
Fairies dig doing it and they have the dirt under their fingernails
to prove
it. But the Garden Fairies come into the story a little later.
First, allow
me to briefly introduce fairies of an aquatic kind... >Read

March 13 '04 we were off to St. Pete to help
Pete.
Garden Fairy Barbara gave one of her yard visits to her friend
Pete who has been suffering from an long undiagnosed illness. When
we arrived we could see the bones of this wonderful garden under
layers and layers of leaves. We all decided besides a general cleanup
Pete sorely needed his potting bench shored up. We all jumped on
this project like a team of finely orchestrated soldier ants. When Ira
and Pete returned from the requisite shop-o-rama at Home Depot we were
ready to attack. We had enough wood and paint to rebuild the structure
and restock the shelves. Our
years of cooperating on projects was evident. Pete and Dave, owners
of this former plant paradise watched in awe as their back
yard came back to life. Dave was so happy we helped Pete he gave everyone
who participated one of his wonderful paintings.
